Trimming
It is so important for a horse to have healthy hooves. It is their foundation, and the condition of their hooves can affect the whole body.
If a horse has unbalanced or overgrown hooves, it changes angles throughout their whole body and can cause strain on muscles, tendons, and joints. If a horse’s feet are sore, they can develop unnatural ways of compensating to try to relieve the pain, which throws off how they move and want to carry themselves.
I have been trimming since I was 17, modeling the natural structure of wild horses’ hooves. I try to keep our domestic horses as close to their natural state as I can.
It feels very important for me to incorporate trimming and knowledge of the hoof into the work I do because their condition has a huge effect on the health of the horse and their ability to do what is asked of them.
I am here to help if you are struggling with your horse’s hooves, questioning what may help them, looking for advice, or simply needing someone to maintain them for you.
